Khola, Newbury Park, California by John Lazo

Over the course of the lockdown due to COVID-19, I started on a small photography project. I photographed my dog, Khola over the course of several different evenings. I challenged myself to use a variety of lenses including a 50mm prime lens, a 16-35mm wide angle lens, a 24-70mm lens, a 100mm macro lens, and finally a 70-200mm telephoto lens. Port Hueneme Pier, Port Hueneme, California by John Lazo

A few days after Christmas, my friend and I drove to Port Hueneme, California to photograph the sunset. There weren’t a lot of clouds in the sky, but we still got some incredible color.

All the photographs were created with a Canon 5D Mark IV along with a 16-35mm lens. The pictures were edited using Adobe Lightroom, Nik Color Efex Pro, OnOne Photo Raw 2017, and Adobe Photoshop.

Point Dume, Malibu, California by John Lazo

On Tuesday morning, a friend and I drove to Point Dume in Malibu, California to photograph the sunrise. We ended up getting some beautiful clouds which filled up nicely as the sun rose above the horizon.

The photos were captured using a Canon 5D Mark IV along with a 16-35mm lens or a 70-200mm lens.

Woolsey Fire, Malibu, California by John Lazo

Last week I drove to Malibu, California at sunset to photograph some of destruction of the recent Woolsey Fire in Southern California. The fire burned to the coast. I started photographing along the PCH until I stumbled upon a small community of houses where I came across several houses that got burned down. It was an incredible experience that makes you consider all the things it’s easy to take for granted.

All the photographs were taken with a Canon 7D Mark II along with a 24-70mm lens. The photos were predominantly edited using Adobe Lightroom in combination with Nik Color Efex Pro.
